Ten rules of security for children in search of sweets and candy to make a success of their trick-or-treat

Only go out in a group and make sure you are never left on your own.
Take an adult with you whenever possible.
Set a specific time at which you will be home again.
Never go into a strange house.
Avoid dogs and dark alleys.
Only cross the road at pedestrian crossings.
Stay on the pavement/sidewalk or face oncoming traffic.
Take a torch with you.
Don't speak to anyone you don't know.
Only eat the candy/sweets once you have returned home, never while out.
